Spar Girona has been drawn into Group A of the EuroLeague Women 2025-26 regular season, following Wednesday’s draw (July 23) held in Munich, Germany. The top European competition will begin this October with 16 teams split into two groups.
After being placed in Pot 2, the Girona side will face reigning champions ZVVZ USK Praha, Polish team VBW Gdynia, and the winner of the qualifying tie between France’s Tango Bourges and Lithuania’s Kibirkstis.
The top three teams in each group will advance to the next round, while the last-placed teams will enter the EuroCup Women’s Round of 32.
Statements from Pere Puig, Sporting Director of Spar Girona:
“Our satisfaction after the draw doesn’t come so much from the group or the teams we’ve been paired with, but rather from seeing Spar Girona’s name once again in a new edition of the EuroLeague Women. If I had to define the group, it wouldn’t be based on current rosters—since teams are still being built—but on the historical significance of the clubs. ZVVZ USK Praha is the reigning champion and already has two EuroLeague titles. VBW Gdynia returns to the competition after several years and has two runner-up finishes. And Bourges is a legendary team in French basketball with three EuroLeague titles.
On the other hand, it would be very special to face Kibirkstis, as Labuckiene plays there, and it would be wonderful to see her back in Fontajau.”
